Message of support for key workers during COVID-19 Pandemic
During this public health emergency, it is vital that we remain united and determined to overcome this difficult time.
Coronavirus has already taken the lives of many, and my thoughts are with those affected by the virus, and all those who have lost loved ones.
I want to take this opportunity to publically thank all of our key workers for their bravery, effort and commitment, during this difficult time. From our amazing NHS staff, care workers, pharmacists, to teachers, from bus drivers to support staff – we all owe so much to those who are saving lives and keeping our country running.
We are aware of the risks these you are taking by being on the frontline every day, often working extremely long hours and forgoing time with your families for days on end. At this time of crisis, the dedication you are showing deserves our deepest gratitude.
Many of these roles have been overlooked in the past, with people being overworked and underpaid. I am committed to continuing my work to ensure that everyone is properly valued and paid fairly for their tireless work.
