The announcement of an agreement to secure a ceasefire and the release of hostages in Gaza is a great source of hope for an end to the bloodshed that has cost so many lives and so much devastation over the past two years. This needs to be a permanent ceasefire, along with an immediate surge in humanitarian aid into Gaza.
There must be a pathway to a just and lasting peace, an end to the occupation, the right to self-determination of the Palestinian people, leading to a two-state solution to enable both Palestinians and Israelis to live in peace and security.
